Savoury breakfast beats sugar cravings
The best way to remain sugar free all day, and not fall victim to the dreaded 3pm hypoglycaemic slump, is to kick-start the day with a savoury breakfast.
Having fasted all night, breakfast is the "make or break" meal that sets up steady blood-sugar levels for the rest of the day.
A bowl of fruit or cereal, or toast and a spread, is not enough to swing the blood-sugar pendulum in the right direction. To do that you need a good serve of protein.
Protein-rich, savoury breakfast ideas include eggs on toast, a vegetable frittata or a herb omelette. For a fancy breakfast, why not treat yourself to smoked salmon or sardines with avocado on toast with shavings of red onion?
